Simple sugars such as those found in a can of soda, have the ability to suppress your immune system (by reducing white blood cell activity) for several hours and increases systemic inflammation. Therefore sustained high consumption of refined sugars ( 2 cans of soda per day, is considered high) can have a detrimental effect on one's health.
